AJ Michalka was born in Torrance, California. Her mother Carrie, also a musician, encouraged her to become a musician. AJ was is a native of Torrance California, was inspired to sing because of her mum Carrie. AJ had the bulk of her youth in Torrance and also Seattle and Milwaukee. They started playing guitar and piano when they were young. They were already proficient within the discipline at the age of the age of adolescence. AJ started performing at age 5 old. She was also a performer in theatrical productions held at churches. AJ participated as a student in the school's musical productions. AJ made her acting debut in 2002 as an 11 year old girl with one small part in the'Passions' series.
